It’s hard to pick a favorite here at GROeat Farm, but this variety, the Amish Rocambole, is very special to us —and our kitchens! We're thrilled to grow it and hope you'll love it just as much as we do.  these have large impressive bulbs for great market appeal, true garlic flavor, strong, medium/hot

Amish Rocambole garlic, a cherished heirloom, embodies the rugged resilience and bold character of its namesake origins. This variety thrives in the harshest northern winters, emerging from fertile, frosty soils with bulbs boasting 7–9 plump, easy-to-peel cloves wrapped in creamy, purple-streaked skins. Its flavor is a fiery crescendo—robust and spicy when raw, yet transforming into a deep, nutty warmth when roasted or sautéed, leaving a lingering, soulful aftertaste.

Cold-hardy and reliable, Amish Rocambole delivers a complex, full-bodied garlic experience, perfect for culinary artisans seeking intensity and depth in every dish. With a long storage life, it’s a seasonal treasure for gardeners and chefs alike.

  • AmishRocambole is planted in the fall, weeks before the first hard frost.  Grows well in USDA Hardiness Zone 3, 4, and 5.  The seed garlic bulbs should be taken apart into separate cloves not long before planting.  Soak in hydrogen peroxide solution  (1 part hydrogen peroxide, three parts water) for 15 minutes before planting, then rince well.

Hardneck garlic requires vernalization (exposure to a period of cold temperatures) before or after planting. Plant cloves two inches deep, the pointed side up. Garlic does best with a loose soil with very good drainage and a pH of 6.0 - 7.0. Plant in an area with full sun exposure.
